Foggia

▸ Foggia

Chosen by Emperor Frederick II as his "favorite site", its history has roots in the Neolithic period, as shown by the archaeological excavations done in the Municipal Garden “Villa Comunale”.
Hub of transhumance from the Middle Ages to the 1800s, in the city you can admire examples of Romanesque and medieval architecture such as the Cathedral, baroque such as the Church of the Sorrowful Mary, but also neoclassical as the Custom Palace, or Liberty examples.
It is possible to observe splendid examples of rationalist architecture because Foggia was the important directional center during the two World Wars.
